Ramban, April 6: A Personal Security Officer (PSO) attached to the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ramban sustained injuries on Monday after being struck by a falling stone along the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) near the Karool area, officials reported.
The injured officer has been identified as Ravinder Singh, a Selection Grade Constable of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. He was part of the security team accompanying Additional SP Ramban Mujeeb Ur Rehman, who was present at the location to oversee ongoing road clearance and restoration operations following recent landslides.
According to officials, loose rocks suddenly rolled down from the hillside during the operation, and one of the stones hit the PSO, causing injuries. Emergency response teams immediately shifted the injured constable to the District Hospital Ramban, where he is currently receiving medical care.
Despite the risk posed by intermittent falling stones in the area, restoration and debris removal work on the affected section of NH-44 is continuing under close supervision. Authorities stated that the situation is being carefully monitored to ensure the safety of personnel and to restore normal traffic movement on the vital highway at the earliest.
