Accused promises jobs for son and Son-in-law, duo uncovers fraud after court’s revelation

Jammu: In a shocking turn of events, Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel has been accused of duping a stamp vendor at the Sub Judge Court in Sunderbani of Rs 25 lakh by promising to arrange jobs for his son and son-in-law as fourth-class employees in the court.
According to official sources, the accused, Mohd Tahir, a Selection Grade Constable reportedly posted at the District Police Line (DPL) Jammu, met his former classmate, Mohd Aslam, a stamp vendor at the Sub Judge Court, and assured him that he could secure a job for his son as a peon in the court.
Tahir, claiming to have connections in the judiciary, persuaded Aslam to provide the necessary documents for the appointment.
A few days later, Tahir allegedly offered to arrange another job—this time for Aslam’s son-in-law, Sikander Khan—again as a class fourth employee in the court, in exchange for Rs 25 lakh. Trusting his old friend, Aslam provided the documents for his son-in-law and arranged the payment.
The exchange of money took place at Jammu Bus Stand, where Aslam handed over the amount to Tahir.
In return, the police officer provided two appointment orders, stating that they were for the positions of peons in the court.
However, the two job seekers were shocked when they were informed by the court registrar that the appointment orders were fake.
In a bid to recover his money, Aslam visited the DPL Jammu, only to learn that Tahir had been absent for some time.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 15/2025, sections 318(4)/336(3)/340(2)/BNS at the Bus Stand police station. An investigation into the matter has been launched.
