Jammu: Four Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service, JKAS, officers faced stone pelting and among them two female JKAS officers were abused in full public view prompting police to lodge an FIR against the accused person who later turned out to be a social media scribe.
The incident took place on Tuesday in the Gharota area. Official sources said that these officers were directed by the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Sachin Kumar Vaishya, IAS, to hold a probe after he received complaints that work under MGNREGA did not take place there.
Smelling scam, the DC Jammu directed his subordinate to hold enquiry and submit the report accordingly. Acting on the DC Jammu office’s order, four JKAS officers including Block Development Officer,BDO, Gharota Anjana Sudan, BDO Headquarters Jammu Rishika Shikka, BDO Bhalwal and another JKAS officer Khalil Ul Rehman reached the pointed site. While they were busy in their official duty,some miscreants reached on the spot and tried to interrupt them to do their task.
Later,one Mohd Afzal also reached the spot and engaged in verbal duel with them. The person later turned out to be a social media scribe. The duel turned ugly when some of his associates pelted stone on the officers which endangered their lives. After having information a police team rushed to the spot.
During late hours, SHO Gharota received complaints from the officers mentioning therein that they were on official duty assigned by Assistant Commissioner, Development Jammu when one Mohd.Afzal started abusing the female officers. Moreover he also attacked on the officers on duty along with his associates with the heavy stones endangering their lives and caused impediments to the government duty/enquiry .The officers were somehow saved by immediate response of BDO Bhalwal.
Based on the complaint, a case vide FIR no. 109 /2024 U/s 121(1) ,132 ,115(2) ,125 ,191 BNS was lodged at the police station.
