Kupwara, June 13: A Pakistani national was apprehended near Simri village in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district after allegedly crossing the Line of Control (LoC) under suspicious circumstances, officials said on Saturday.
According to the Army, the individual was intercepted on June 12 during a joint operation launched by troops of the Chinar Corps and the Jammu and Kashmir Police after receiving specific intelligence inputs.
The Army said alert security personnel acted swiftly to detain the intruder near Simri village, preventing any possible security threat.
The apprehended individual is currently being questioned, while authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the border crossing and any possible motives or links.
Officials said further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
