Srinagar, Apr 15: The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden in Srinagar has witnessed a massive tourist rush this season, with over 3.5 lakh visitors recorded so far, officials said.
Talking to The News Now,Imran Ahmed ,incharge of the Tulip Garden said that the garden will remain open till Thursday evening (April 16), after which it will be closed for the season.
“The footfall is expected to decline in the coming days as nearly 20 percent of tulips have started fading, and the bloom will gradually reduce,” the official said.
He informed that a total of 3,54,000 tourists have visited the garden this season, including around 2 lakh national visitors, reflecting the growing popularity of Kashmir’s spring attraction.
The official further said that the garden witnessed a steady rise in tourist inflow after opening. “In the initial days, when the garden was opened, around 3,000 to 4,000 visitors used to come daily. However, at present, the daily footfall has increased to around 9,000 to 10,000 visitors,” he added.
The Tulip Garden, situated at the foothills of the Zabarwan range overlooking the Dal Lake, remains one of the top attractions in Kashmir during spring and draws visitors from across the country and abroad.
Officials said the season has been successful in terms of tourist turnout and has contributed positively to the local tourism economy.
