DSEK to opt of last year’s procedure for upcoming exams for class 1stto 9th

Exam to be held in offline mode, class 8th, 9th students to have 30% relaxation

SRINAGAR: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has said that last year's modus operand shall be used for the upcoming exams of Class 1st to 9th in the valley.
Reports said that the Term second examination for classes 1st to 9th shall be conducted at the school level by adhering to State Council of Educational Research Training (SCERT) guidelines with face-to-face offline mode with all the Covid-19 SOPs. A circular in this regard has been issued by the Directorate of School Education Department Kashmir.
“Since the conditions of the pandemic and school closure are same as that of last year and the modus operandi for last year examinations is relevant for this year as well and therefore the approval may kindly be granted for going ahead with the scheme of Examinations”, the circular reads.
The circular states that the concerned schools shall set the question papers and the sample papers shall be prepared by ERSA Wing of SCERT/CMDE Wings of DIET as per the Assessment scheme in vogue with a 40% choice to the students, keeping in view the psyche/ mental anxiety and prevailing Covid-19 pandemic.
The concerned Schools will follow the same pattern and will assess the students accordingly. The examinations shall be conducted by DoSE through the concerned Directorates by strictly following Covid SOPs issued by Government from time to time. The evaluation shall be done at the complex head level and result in a compilation at DIET. The concerned DIETs shall issue the achievement cards for the class 8th students depicting their result, it added.
For class 1st to 7th, the examination shall be conducted at the school level by adhering to SCERT guidelines, which includes that the learner shall be assessed on the following parameters which state assessment of learning, assessment of conceptual clarity & critical thinking/creativity/communication skills of students.
The assessment shall involve various methods like virtual mode, community class mode, one to one interaction etc. The DIET concerned shall prepare the model of assessment for each class and share it with HOIs. There shall be 100% coverage of students and Report cards be prepared and learning gaps if any, shall be augmented by Remedial/ Reinforcement Teaching. The result confirmation is to be done by DIETs through concerned complex centres.
For Classes 8th and 9th, the T2 examination for classes 8th & 9th shall be conducted at the School level and the concerned schools shall set the test items/ papers as per the Assessment Scheme/ Diagonal linkage in vogue with 30% concession/ relaxation. The students shall be required to attempt only 70% marks (28 marks out of 40 marks) which shall be proportionately raised to 100% (40 marks).
The evaluation shall be done at the school level. The concerned schools are required to submit the award rolls of the class 8th students (both Govt. & Private) to the concerned complex heads. The final result compilation shall be done at the DIET level in respect of Class 8th only. For Class 9th, the concerned school shall identify the learning gaps and bridge the said learning gaps if any, during the ensuing academic year. The examination for the class shall be conducted as per the assessment process adopted for classes 1st to 7th. The concerned DIETs shall register all the class 8th.
