Low engagement of staff, students for Community Classes in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: Amid low engagement of staff and students for community classes in Srinagar the education department has directed the Head of Institutes (HOIs) to ensure 100 per cent attendance of staff and a maximum number of students.
The News Now has learnt this month on a number of teachers that have conducted community classes. As per the details available, Over 30,620 teachers have conducted community classes for as many as 1, 86, 677 students across Kashmir.
Further, Srinagar reported the lowest engagement of teachers and staff members during community classes in the Srinagar district. Taking note, Chief Education Officer Srinagar has now issued an order directing the Head of Institutes to ensure 100 per cent attendance of staff and students.
“It has been observed that teachers engagement in virtual/community classes in the district is approximately 85 per cent while as that of students is as low as 49 per cent. The low engagement of students and teachers is being reviewed seriously by higher authorities”, the circular reads.
In the same backdrop following directions are hereby conveyed to all the stakeholders for immediate compliance. All Head of Institutes shall ensure 100 per cent engagement of staff in virtual/community classes. All teaching faculty members mark their attendance/submit details of online classes/conference classes/community classes in the LMS portal on daily basis without fail, it added.
“Head of Institutes and teachers need to make exhaustive efforts to engage a maximum number of students in teaching (virtual community/conference classes). ZRPs/DRGs shall monitor the engagement of teachers and students in virtual/community classes and identify non-participating teachers. The mater be accordingly take-up with the concerned Head of Institutes under an intimation to his office”, the circular added.
