PM holds meeting with Chief of Naval Staff

New Delhi: The Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh on Monday briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the efforts made by the Indian Navy to aid civil administration in Covid management.

He informed the PM that the Indian Navy has reached out to all state administrations and have offered help in terms of hospital beds, transportation and the Naval hospitals have been opened for use of civilians in various cities.

He also informed that medical personnel in the Navy have been redeployed at various locations in the country to manage Covid duties while the trained ‘Battle Field Nursing Assistants’ would be ddeployed in Covid duties.

Admiral Karambir Singh also updated Mr Modi that Navy is helping increase oxygen availability in Lakshadweep as well as Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

He also apprised him that the Indian Navy is transporting Oxygen Containers as well as other supplies from Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Singapore to India.

Earlier, the Prime Minister had met, CDS Genral Bipin Rawat, Army and Air Force Chiefs to review the aid being extended to the civil administration by them.
