JAMMU, June 23: Sat Sharma, President of the Jammu and Kashmir BJP, stated that the Central Government, has given a historic push to infrastructure in the strategically sensitive Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir by approving 19 mega road and tunnel projects worth ₹10,637 crore. These projects, he said, will not only ensure improved regional connectivity, road safety, and all-weather access, but will also prove to be a decisive step in strengthening India’s border security.
Speaking in a meeting at the BJP headquarters in the presence of party General Secretary and MLA Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, Headquarters Incharge Priya Sethi, All Cells Incharge Rakesh Mahajan, and other party activists, Sharma appreciated the decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.
Sat Sharma CA noted that Jammu and Kashmir, being a border region, has for years posed challenges for security forces trying to access remote and snowbound areas swiftly. These new projects will now enable quicker and uninterrupted access for the army and security agencies to strategically important areas. He added that the construction of new roads and tunnels will not only strengthen logistical supply chains but also improve the effectiveness of anti-terror operations.
He further stated that the approved 19 projects will ensure “all-weather connectivity” in border areas, enabling seamless movement of troops and military equipment. This will not only assist the armed forces but also instill a sense of safety and relief among civilians living in border villages.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government has accorded top priority to safeguarding the nation’s borders. These projects stand as evidence that the government is laying a strong foundation not just for development, but also for national security. This initiative reflects the Modi government’s commitment to the policy of “Development with Security,” aiming not only to secure borders but also to make life easier and safer for the residents of border areas.
Sat Sharma CA added that these projects will also open new avenues for tourism, trade, investment, and employment in Jammu and Kashmir. This will boost the region’s socio-economic development and provide brighter prospects for the local youth.
Aligned with Prime Minister Modi’s visionary leadership, this historic decision will propel Jammu and Kashmir to new heights of development, trust, and security, he said.
Sat Sharma CA also shared that the party MPs and other senior leaders have taken up the issue of all weather road connectivity with the Union Government on many occasions and PM and the Minister of Road Transport and Highways have acceded to the requests and sanctioned these mega projects for J&K.
The meeting was also attended by Naresh Singh Jasrotia, Baldev Singh Billawaria, Ved Sharma, Balbir Ram Rattan, Gourav Gupta, Dr. Pradeep Mahotra, Prof. Kulbhushan Mohtra and Gourav Balgotra.
