Srinagar: A high-level meeting of the National Conference is currently underway at the party headquarters, Nawai Subah, in Srinagar under the chairmanship of party president Farooq Abdullah.
According to sources, the provincial working committee meeting is being attended by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, cabinet ministers, MLAs from Kashmir, and senior party leaders. Several important political and administrative matters are expected to be discussed during the meeting.
The meeting has drawn attention after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah recently hinted at making a major political statement after Eid. Speaking at an event in Tangmarg, Omar said he would speak openly before the public after Eid, triggering speculation in political circles across Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources said discussions are likely to focus on the restoration of statehood, the performance of the government, and other key issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir. Cabinet expansion may also figure in the discussions, as three ministerial positions in the council remain vacant.
