NOV 19: As the world observe International Men’s Day on 19 November, the occasion serves as a meaningful reminder to acknowledge the silent sacrifices, responsibilities, and invaluable contributions that men make every day for their families, society, and the nation.
Sharing his thoughts on the significance of the day, Balbir Ram Rattan, former Vice Chairman, said that men are truly the backbone of the family, strengthening every relationship with their hard work, patience, and unwavering dedication.
Balbir Ram Rattan highlighted that men not only shoulder the responsibility of financial stability but also ensure safety, emotional balance, and overall well-being within the family. He pointed out that in the busy pace of modern life, men often suppress their own struggles, emotions, and stress just to protect their loved ones from worry. He said that they stand firm like a rock in every situation, no matter how difficult the circumstances may be.
He emphasised that International Men’s Day is a reminder to prioritise men’s mental health, emotional security, and inner balance, which are often overlooked. Positive male role models, he added, play a crucial role in shaping the youth by instilling values of loyalty, discipline, hard work, and morality.
Balbir further stated that true gender equality is meaningful only when the contributions of men receive equal respect and appreciation. He described the day as an opportunity to express heartfelt gratitude to all those men who fulfil their duties at home, at work, and within the community without expecting anything in return.
Appealing to society, he urged everyone to recognise the hard work, sacrifices, and emotions of the men around them, and to extend support for their physical and mental well-being. He said that when men are strong, the family becomes strong, and when families are strong, only then can society truly become balanced and happy.
International Men’s Day thus stands as a celebration of the role of men in building healthier families and a more harmonious society, where their efforts are honoured, their well-being prioritised, and their contributions truly valued.
