Jammu, Apr 29: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday presided over a high-level meeting at Lok Bhavan in Jammu to review the prevailing security situation and evaluate preparedness for the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra.
The meeting was attended by senior police and civil administration officials, including Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, and focused on strengthening law and order arrangements as well as ensuring effective coordination among security agencies.
During the discussion, officials assessed the overall security environment across Jammu and Kashmir, placing special attention on measures required to guarantee the safe and orderly conduct of the annual pilgrimage, which attracts a large number of devotees each year.
Sources said the deliberations also highlighted the importance of enhancing preventive strategies and maintaining a high level of vigilance in sensitive and vulnerable areas. The Lieutenant Governor emphasized the necessity of close coordination between different security forces and prompt response systems to handle any unforeseen situation.
In addition to security matters, the meeting reviewed progress made under the administration’s campaign aimed at creating a drug-free society. Officials examined ongoing enforcement actions against narcotics and discussed expanding public awareness initiatives to combat substance abuse across the region.
