Srinagar,Jan 14: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) on Wednesday declared the results of the annual regular Class 10 examinations, registering an overall pass percentage of 84 per cent.
Officials said that 84 per cent of the candidates who appeared in the examinations cleared them.
More than 94,000 students had taken the annual regular Class 10 examinations, which began on November 3 in the Kashmir division. The board had established 994 examination centres across the region for the smooth conduct of the exams.
According to JKBOSE, 68,804 students from ten districts of the Kashmir division and 25,224 candidates from eight districts of the winter zone areas of the Jammu division were enrolled for the examinations. In addition, 660 students from Kargil and 95 from Leh district had also registered.
Earlier, the JKBOSE Secretary had stated that nearly 95,000 students were enrolled to appear for the Class 10 examinations and that 994 examination centres had been set up.
The board had also announced a 15 per cent relaxation in the syllabus for Classes 10, 11 and 12. In a notification, the Director (Academics) of JKBOSE said the decision was taken following recommendations from the Directorate of School Education, Kashmir (DSEK), the Directorate of School Education, Jammu (DSEJ), and representations from other stakeholders.
The relaxation was granted in view of the delayed start of the academic session and disruptions to the academic calendar caused by heatwaves, torrential rains, cloudbursts and floods.
“As approved by the competent authority, eligible students appearing in the annual regular 2025 examinations for Classes 10, 11 and 12 in the Kashmir division, winter zone areas of the Jammu division and the Union Territory of Ladakh shall attempt 85 per cent of the syllabus, which will be treated as equivalent to 100 per cent marks, thereby availing a 15 per cent relaxation,” the notification said.
