Jammu, July 7: A spell of rain and thunderstorms is expected to affect Jammu and Kashmir over the next 24 hours due to the influence of a weak western disturbance and active monsoon winds, according to Kashmir Weather Forecast.
The forecast indicates that intermittent rain showers, accompanied by thunderstorms, are likely across several parts of the Union Territory. While prolonged rainfall is not expected, isolated areas may receive intense showers, increasing the possibility of flash floods, landslides and mudslides in vulnerable locations.
For the Amarnath Yatra, weather conditions are expected to become more active along the Pahalgam and Sonamarg routes during the late afternoon and evening hours. Moderate to intense thunderstorms, along with localized heavy rainfall, are likely at a few places along the Yatra axis.
The weather advisory warns of an increased risk of flash floods, landslides, mudslides and shooting stones on the pilgrimage routes. Pilgrims have been urged to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary movement during adverse weather, and strictly follow advisories issued by the administration and disaster management authorities.
Officials have advised devotees and other travellers to stay updated with the latest weather bulletins before undertaking their journey.
