Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said that Jammu and Kashmir and Telangana share a unique spiritual bond as both are regarded as sacred lands of Lord Shiva.
Speaking at the Telangana Statehood Day celebrations held at Jammu Kashmir Lok Bhavan, the Lieutenant Governor described it as a remarkable coincidence that the two regions are linked through a rich spiritual heritage associated with Lord Shiva.
The Lieutenant Governor also highlighted Telangana’s rich literary traditions and the contributions of its distinguished writers and poets towards social awakening and reform.
“From the 11th century verses of MalliyaRechanna to the poetic imagination of modern figures such as Atreya and Dasarathi Krishnamacharyulu, Telangana’s literary tradition has enriched Indian literature,” Sinha said.
He noted that Telangana’s literary luminaries played a vital role in shaping public consciousness and advancing social reforms through their writings.
Paying tributes to renowned freedom fighters and tribal leaders Ramji Gond, Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju, the Lieutenant Governor said their sacrifices and contributions continue to inspire generations.
Sinha also acknowledged the role played by the people of Telangana in nation-building, stating that farmers, soldiers, scientists, entrepreneurs, poets and artists from the region have made immense contributions to the country’s progress.
Calling for greater unity and collective progress, the Lieutenant Governor urged citizens to draw strength from India’s diversity and rich cultural heritage.
“As every citizen contributes to our shared progress, let us pledge to draw strength from our diversity, celebrate our rich culture and march together towards a prosperous future,” he said.
The Telangana Statehood Day function was attended by officials and members of the Telangana community residing in Jammu and Kashmir.
