Jammu, Apr 20: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the road accident in Udhampur district and assured full support to the affected families. They instructed officials to ensure prompt relief and necessary assistance to those impacted by the tragedy.
According to officials, at least 21 people lost their lives while several others sustained injuries after a passenger bus plunged into a gorge in the district earlier in the day.
In his message shared on social media, the Lieutenant Governor described the incident as deeply distressing and conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved families, while wishing a quick recovery to those injured in the mishap. He also directed the district administration, police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and health authorities to extend all possible help to the victims.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also conveyed his condolences, stating that the administration stands in solidarity with the families affected by the accident and is taking steps to provide all required assistance during this difficult time.
