JAMMU: In an embarrassing situation unfolding in the assembly today, the administrative staff of legislature assembly had to face a chaotic situation when the audio-visual system malfunctioned mid-proceedings, disrupting the session.
As members raised their questions seeking responses from ministers, the television screens installed in the House flickered repeatedly, frustrating the listeners who voiced complaints about the mismanagement.
The disruption escalated further when the microphones placed before the Speaker and members also started cracking, rendering speeches inaudible and bringing the discussions to a halt. The technical failure led to commotion as the assembly staff scrambled to provide handheld microphones to ensure audibility.
Staff members had to rush back and forth, handing microphones to the members as needed, creating a rather awkward and chaotic scene in the House. The situation caused considerable inconvenience, leaving members visibly agitated.
However, one small relief for the assembly staff was that the microphone in front of the Leader of the House, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, remained functional.
This saved some face for the administration, as at least the leader’s voice could be heard clearly. Despite the disruptions, proceedings continued with temporary adjustments, highlighting the urgent need for a more reliable audio-visual setup in the assembly.
