MAY 21: Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh targets the Central leadership for sending delegations of MPs from different political outfits overseas to detail the decisive action of India in Operation Sindoor and said it is tactic to evade the people’s attention from the key issues.
Jairam on Wednesday dubbed it as public relations exercise by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Congress stalwart questioned Centre for not calling a special session of the Parliament to discuss Pahalgam massacre.
“I believe this is another attempt to divert attention from the key issues. This is a public relations exercise. We are raising real issues about terrorism and terrorist attacks, China, Pakistan…Why is Government hesitant in convening a special session of Parliament?” he said.
While hurling barbs at the Central Government, Jairam Ramesh said, “Since the Pahalgam carnage, two all-party meetings were held, which were skipped by Prime Minister. Later, LoP Rahul Gandhi and M. Kharge wrote to PM to call special parliament session.”
He laid emphasis on the fact that issues like Pak’s abetting and aiding terrorism targeting India and that country’s strategic partnership with China are core issues that need discussions in the House.
