Srinagar, May 13: National Conference leader and MLA Tanvir Sadiq on Wednesday criticised Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, saying some BJP leaders do not understand the political situation and public sentiment in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Sadiq said the BJP was disconnected from the ground realities of the Union Territory, while the National Conference continued to enjoy strong public support.
In a sharp remark aimed at Sunil Sharma, Sadiq said he would personally offer him coffee and remind him that “this is Jammu and Kashmir, not Assam.”
He accused certain BJP leaders of making statements without understanding the region’s political atmosphere and said the National Conference formed the government because people voted for it.
Sadiq expressed confidence that the party would return to power in future elections as well, adding that no government could be formed in Jammu and Kashmir without the National Conference.
The NC leader also hit out at the Opposition over allegations related to corruption and backdoor appointments, calling such claims baseless political statements. He challenged critics to provide proof against the government.
Taking another swipe at Opposition leaders, Sadiq said people who support sports and healthy activities understand society better than those spreading negativity.
