Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir has recorded 3,14,895 electronically filed cases in its High Court and district courts till June 30, 2026, reflecting the growing adoption of digital technologies in the judicial system.

According to information placed before the Lok Sabha by the Union Government in response to Unstarred Question, Jammu and Kashmir registered 30,829 e-filed cases in the High Court and 2,84,066 cases in district courts, taking the total number of e-filed cases to 3,14,895.

The data, compiled by the eCommittee of the Supreme Court of India, forms part of the Government’s update on the implementation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) initiatives in Indian courts under the e-Courts project.

Nationally, courts across the country have witnessed 1,25,87,329 e-filed cases, including 20,18,013 cases in High Courts and 1,05,69,316 cases in district courts up to June 30, 2026.

Among the states and Union Territories, the Bombay High Court jurisdiction recorded the highest number of e-filed cases with 34.76 lakh, followed by Madras (27.81 lakh), Delhi district courts (19.12 lakh) and Kerala district courts (10.93 lakh). Jammu and Kashmir’s tally of over 3.14 lakh e-filings places it among the states showing significant adoption of digital filing in courts.

The Government informed Parliament that the e-filing system enables litigants and advocates to file cases online without the need for physical visits to court complexes, thereby improving accessibility, transparency and efficiency in judicial proceedings.

The data underscores the steady expansion of digital judicial services in Jammu and Kashmir as part of the nationwide push to modernise court administration through technology.
