JUNE 12: In a deadliest air disasters, a London-bound Air Plane ferrying 242 passengers along with crew crashed after taking off from Ahmedabad Airport.
The Air India flight, which departed from Ahmedabad at 1:38 PM was ferrying 242 passengers and crew members on board.
Out of these, 169 are Indian nationals, 53 are British nationals, 1 Canadian national and 7 Portuguese nationals.
PM Narendra Modi spoke to Home Minister Amit Shah and Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu and asked them to take stock of the situation and ensure all possible assistance to those affected in the wake of the air crash.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah posted on X, “Pained beyond words by the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. Disaster response forces have been quickly rushed to the crash site. Spoke with the Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, Home Minister Shri Harsh Sanghavi, and Commissioner of Police Ahmedabad to assess the situation.”
