JAMMU, Jul 1:The first batch of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 pilgrims received their RFID cards as enthusiasm among devotees reached new heights ahead of the commencement of the annual pilgrimage and the first darshan on July 3.
With the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 set to begin on July 3, the Jammu administration started on-the-spot registration and RFID card issuance for pilgrims, while the first batch of devotees reached the Yatri Transit Camp in Srinagar.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will flag off the first batch of pilgrims, officially marking the start of the annual pilgrimage.
Officials said all arrangements for the first batch have been completed, and the registration process is being conducted in a smooth and systematic manner to ensure hassle-free movement of pilgrims.
Pilgrims who received tokens are now completing e-KYC verification and RFID registration before proceeding on the Yatra. Officials said the system has been introduced to improve transparency, strengthen security and manage the heavy rush of devotees.
To facilitate the registration process, the district administration has established 18 on-the-spot registration and token counters across Jammu, including at the Tawi Riverfront Centre, Geeta Bhawan, Ram Mandir (Purani Mandi), Bhagwati Nagar and the Jammu Railway Station.
Officials said token generation starts daily at 6:00 a.m., with each pilgrim required to be present in person to receive a token.
Security has been tightened at all registration centres, particularly at the Tawi Riverfront, where additional personnel have been deployed to ensure the process remains safe and orderly.
The Amarnath Yatra will conclude on August 28, coinciding with Shravan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan. Pilgrims can undertake the pilgrimage through the traditional Pahalgam route or the shorter Baltal route to reach the holy cave shrine in Anantnag district, situated at an altitude of 3,880 metres.
