Tawi Aarti held at Riverfront to mark beginning of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra

Jammu: The Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said the entire Jammu and Kashmir is experiencing spiritual bliss on the eve of the holy pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. Participating in the ‘Tawi Aarti’ at the Riverfront in Jammu on Monday evening, LG Sinha prayed to Baba Barfani and Suryaputri Tawi for a peaceful, blessed, and memorable journey for all pilgrims arriving from across the country.

“People of J&K are ready to welcome devotees of Baba Barfani. May Lord Shiva bless everyone with health, happiness, and harmony,” he said.

The spiritual ceremony was organised by the Jammu Municipal Corporation in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Jammu Smart City Limited, and Shri Raghunath Ji Corridor Vikas Council. The Lieutenant Governor congratulated all departments involved in reviving this spiritual tradition and said that the divine Tawi Aarti will deeply connect pilgrims with the spiritual and historical legacy of Jammu.

“There is the song of God in the heartbeat of Jammu. The city’s soul reflects eternal spirituality. This land has always been blessed with divine energy,” the LG said, adding that the region’s spiritual and cultural revival is a vital part of its development journey.

Reflecting on Jammu and Kashmir’s transformation, the LG said that since 2019, the Union Territory has reclaimed its pride, dignity, and spiritual essence. “After decades of darkness, J&K has risen. Citizens are full of self-confidence, and the river of progress is flowing uninterrupted,” he remarked.

He emphasized that for him, Jammu and Kashmir is not just an administrative responsibility but a mission to restore the lost spiritual and cultural grandeur. “I have tried to rebuild Jammu and Kashmir with the same dedication one has for a sacred temple,” he added.

The LG praised the people of J&K for their active participation in this transformation, noting the historic pace of development witnessed in both Jammu and Kashmir divisions over the past five years. He also commended the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board for its dedication in enhancing facilities for pilgrims, and announced that the new Yatri Niwas at Baltal will be dedicated to devotees on July 4.

He urged citizens and civil society members to join the flag-off ceremony of the first batch of pilgrims from Yatri Niwas, Jammu, tomorrow morning. He also requested the media to spread awareness among devotees about travelling in designated convoys to ensure safety.

Calling for collective effort, the LG appealed to all sections of society to make the Tawi Aarti a regular spiritual event.

The ceremony was attended by a large gathering including Shri Bharat Bhushan (Chairman DDC Jammu), Mandeep Kaur (Commissioner Secretary, Housing & Urban Development), Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar, IGP Bhim Sen Tuti, Jammu Municipal Commissioner & CEO Smart City Devansh Yadav, and Chairman Shri Raghunath Ji Corridor Council Rajesh Gupta, among others. Acharyas, Archakas, civil society members, and a large number of Amarnath pilgrims also took part in the event.
