NOV 14: As per the latest data released by the Election Commission of India, Devyani Rana of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) kept the legacy alive of her father Devender Singh Rana, who was a senior BJP leader, by emerging victorious at the Nagrota assembly seat.
Devyani Rana embraced triumph with 42,183 votes, defeating her closest rival Harsh Dev Singh of the Jammu & Kashmir National Panthers Party, who bagged 17,661 votes.
Shamim Begum of the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference trailed with 10,834 votes, while independent candidate Anil Sharma got 837 votes.
Notably, the victory marks significant milestone in her political career which commenced after her father Devender Singh Rana’s demise in 2024.
Nagrota has always showered love and admiration for late Devender Singh Rana. He stood from NC and later from BJP and won both times as MLA.
With less period to get familier among the masses in Nagrota, Rana’s daughter has smashed the critics aside.
It is learnt that the spectacular victory of Devyani Rana from Nagrota Assembly Seat in by-poll has set the seal on BJP’s stronghold in the region.
