MARCH 17: Widespread criticism has erupted against the Social Media Influencer Orhan Awatramani alias Orry and seven others for allegedly consuming alcohol at a hotel in Katra, the base camp for pilgrimage to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district.
Several BJP leaders including LoP Sunil Sharma and PDP MLAs have severely reprimanded the liquor consumption by influencer at Katra.
LoP Sunil Sharma, “The faith of people in Mata Vaishno Devi has been offended and in-depth inquiry into the matter must be awaited.”
MLA Vikram Randhawa said, “This is sheer insult to the sentiments of Hindus across the nation and the stringent inquiry should be conducted into the matter.”
MLA Waheed Parra said, “Such culture must not be promoted here, especially where pilgrimage exists.”
It is learnt that an FIR has been registered against eight for breaching the law of land and a team has been formulated for hurting religious sentiments.
