Jammu: The Chairman of the Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra, fulfilled his promise by giving a Mahindra Scorpio N to Sheetal Devi, the Indian para-archer and recent recipient of the Arjuna Award.
Sheetal shared her happiness on her Instagram account. Her post read, “Choosing a Mahindra vehicle was thrilling yet overwhelming, but the Mahindra Scorpio N was the one that stole my heart! It felt perfect for the rugged roads of my village. The vehicle is amazing! Thank you again, Sir!
Anand Mahindra also posted photos of Sheetal and her Scorpio N on social media, saying, “I have long admired @archersheetal’s talent from afar. Meeting her in person, I was struck by her remarkable determination, tenacity and focus. Speaking to her mother and sister, it was clear it runs in the family!”
Sheetal Devi was born without arms due to a rare medical condition called phocomelia. However, she didn’t let this stop her. At just 17 years old, she made history as India’s youngest Paralympic medalist by winning bronze in the mixed team compound event at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
Her achievements include two gold medals and a silver medal at the 2022 Asian Para Games, a silver medal at the World Para Archery Championship, and gold and silver at the Asian Para Archery Championships. She was also honoured with the Arjuna Award and was the top-ranked player in para-archery in 2023.
