Anantnag, July 08: Anantnag Police detained three suspected overground workers after the Facial Recognition System (FRS) deployed for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra flagged them as they passed through the Sarbal area.
Officials said police personnel immediately responded to the alerts generated by the surveillance system and intercepted the three individuals for identity verification. During the verification process, all of them were identified as suspected overground workers.
Following the intelligence inputs provided by the Facial Recognition System and the subsequent verification, the trio was taken into custody for further legal action.
Police said the incident demonstrates the effectiveness of technology-based surveillance in enhancing security arrangements for the annual pilgrimage. They added that modern monitoring systems continue to play an important role in maintaining a strong security network, ensuring the safety of pilgrims, and preserving peace across the district.
