SHO refuses to entertain complaint, FIR lodged after SSP Jammu’s intervention

Jammu: A cheating case on transportation loan has surfaced in district Jammu where a woman sold a financed car and eventually got the Registration Certificate of the car transferred through RTO Jammu.
Furthermore, the awkward situation arose for the financed bank- The Jammu Central Co-operative Bank Ltd. (State Partnered) after the Station House Officer, SHO, refused to entertain a complaint. The FIR later got registered after the intervention of SSP Jammu Joginder Kumar.
The resentment letter by The JCC Bank to SSP Jammu read as , “ Non Registration of FIR by SHO Gharota: We wish to bring to your kind notice that despite multiple requests to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Amb Gharota, our FIR against Mrs, Naveeda Bano W/o Manat Ali, R/o VPO Ranjan, Tehsil Bhalwal, District Jammu has not been registered. The matter pertains to a transport loan sanctioned by our bank on 2802-2024 vide sanction letter no. 01-B/33800-04, in favor of her for the purchase of a car (TATA Make) bearing registration number: JK02DA 8544”.
Reports said that Naveda Bano purchased the vehicle from one Rafan Ali son of Barkat Ai, of village Jandial, Jammu, who had an existing loan with Induslnd Bank. Bano purchased the vehicle through a sale deed and the bank transferred loan amounting to Rs 750600 whereas Rs. 450000 was her contribution . After the loan, the bank requested her to provide a copy of the new Registration Certificate (RC) with the bank’s hypothecation marked on it.
Bank authorities got back after they came to know that the woman sold the financed vehicle and got the RC transferred in another person’s name identified as Kayamat Ali (Brother-in-law of Naveeda Bano), without informing or obtaining the bank’s consent.
“The bank authorities knocked on the door of the SHO Amb Gharota and after getting nothing, they approached the SSP Jammu. In compliance with the direction,SHO Gharota lodged a case FIR NO:-30/2025 U/S:-318(4) BNS and started investigation”, an official source told The News Now.
