Jammu, September 30: Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir State President Manish Sahni staged a symbolic ‘Gaddha Poojan’ protest in Jammu on Wednesday, drawing attention to pothole-ridden and damaged roads across the city.
During the protest, party workers gathered along a roadside and performed a symbolic worship of potholes to highlight the difficulties faced by commuters. Sahni said the poor condition of several roads was causing inconvenience to residents and increasing the risk of accidents.
Questioning the progress of road repairs, Sahni also raised concerns over the role of the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), asking where the pothole-fixing teams and workers were who were assigned the responsibility of repairing damaged roads.
He also questioned the expenditure being incurred under the Smart City initiative, arguing that residents continued to face basic problems such as broken roads despite the projects being undertaken in the city.
Sahni urged the administration and concerned agencies to repair the potholes before the upcoming Navratri festival. He gave the authorities a one-week deadline to address the issue and warned that failure to act would lead to intensified protests outside government offices.
The protest was aimed at drawing attention to road safety and pressing the administration to ensure timely maintenance of roads across Jammu.
