JAMMU,JULY 25: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned, saying that the interests of India’s students and youth must always come before politics. In his resignation letter, he said his decision was driven by accountability and the need to safeguard the future of millions of students, rather than by personal reputation.
Pradhan said he had complete faith in the talent, determination and aspirations of the country’s young people, calling them the driving force behind a developed and self-reliant India. He acknowledged that the events of the past few days had caused him deep disappointment, but stressed that he chose to step down in the larger national interest.
He said young people should never become casualties of political disputes and urged that no anti-national elements be allowed to take advantage of the current situation. He also emphasized that students’ futures should not be compromised for political purposes.
Expressing gratitude, Pradhan thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his guidance, trust and continued support during his tenure. He also acknowledged the contributions of his Cabinet colleagues, ministry officials, employees and all those who worked with him, adding that serving the nation would always remain his foremost commitment.
Invoking the blessings of Lord Jagannath, Pradhan said he would continue working for the people of India, especially the youth of Odisha and the nation as a whole.
