Srinagar, July 15: Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet Minister Satish Sharma on Wednesday said the proposed protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on July 20 to demand the restoration of statehood will go ahead even if permission is not granted.
Sharma made the remarks while speaking to reporters after visiting the residence of the late Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal to offer condolences to the bereaved family.
He said the people of Jammu and Kashmir are determined to reach Jantar Mantar and demand the restoration of statehood.
“We are the crown of the country, and it is our right to get statehood back. Whether we get permission or not, the people of Jammu and Kashmir will reach Jantar Mantar to demand their rights,” Sharma said.
The minister also criticised what he described as the downgrading of administrative positions after the reorganisation of Jammu and Kashmir, saying it reflected the injustice faced by the region.
The protest at Jantar Mantar has been planned to press for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
