JAMMU, AUGUST 21: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today organized a mega donation drive, demonstrating its commitment towards promoting environmental sustainability, recycling, and social welfare in the city. The program witnessed active participation from all officers and officials of the Corporation, who brought household items including clothes, shoes, blankets, books, toys and other essentials to contribute to the noble cause.
The event aimed to instill a sense of responsibility among citizens towards reducing waste and reusing usable materials, instead of discarding them irresponsibly in drains and rivers, which leads to pollution and environmental degradation. The initiative also emphasized the importance of recycling to build a cleaner and greener Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Dr. Devansh Yadav said that such donation drives reflect the collective responsibility of citizens and civic authorities to ensure that usable items do not go to waste. Through RRR (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) Centers established at ward levels, local residents can now donate items easily, ensuring that they reach those who truly need them.”
He further announced that in the coming days, JMC, in collaboration with the District Administration, will organize similar donation campaigns across various departments to encourage wider participation from government employees and the public alike. These initiatives will also help in spreading awareness about responsible waste management practices throughout the city.
In addition to supporting the cause of recycling and reuse, the Corporation also announced a special relief measure for the victims of the tragic incident that recently occurred in Chashoti Paddar, Kishtwar. A dedicated team will soon be dispatched to the affected area to deliver essential items and support the families in need.
Joint Commissioner (Revenue and Enforcement) Subah Mehta, Joint Commissioner (Health and Sanitation) Abdul Sattar, Joint Commissioner (Administration) Rajiv Khajuria, Chief accounts Officer, Sandeep Singh, Secretary JMC Chand Singh, Health Officer JMC Dr. Vinod Sharma, AFO, Dr. Rabia Khan, VAS, JMC, I/C IEC, Dr. Divya Sharma along with other senior officers, were present during the drive and actively participated in the donation process.
The Commissioner appealed to the citizens of Jammu to come forward and contribute generously through the RRR Centers set up in their respective wards. “Together, with the active participation of every resident, we can transform Jammu into a city that is not only clean and green but also compassionate and socially responsible,” Dr. Yadav added.
Jammu Municipal Corporation continues to focus on innovative initiatives that combine environmental conservation with community welfare, thereby laying the foundation for a sustainable future.
