JUNE 19: Indoor Shooting Range Inaugurated at GHSS Boys Kishtwar by Hon’ble MLA Ms. Shagun Parihar. YS&S Launches Inter-Zonal District Level Tournament in Wrestling, Table Tennis, Handball & Rifle Shooting
Kishtwar, 19 June 2025 — A significant milestone in the promotion of sports infrastructure in Kishtwar was achieved with the inauguration of a newly established Indoor Shooting Range at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Boys Kishtwar.
The facility was inaugurated by the Hon’ble MLA Kishtwar Ms. Shagun Parihar, in the esteemed presence of Worthy Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Sh. Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS).
The establishment of this modern shooting range has been made possible through the joint efforts of the Mechanical & Hospital Sub-Division Kishtwar in close collaboration with the Department of Youth Services & Sports (YS&S), Kishtwar. This initiative reflects a strong commitment to providing quality infrastructure to nurture sporting talent among youth.
To mark the occasion, the Department of Youth Services & Sports Kishtwar also organized an Inter-Zonal District Level Tournament for U/14 and U/17 Boys and Girls in the disciplines of Wrestling, Table Tennis, Handball, and Rifle Shooting. The competitions were held across multiple venues specially designated for each sporting discipline.
The Chief Guest for the event was Hon’ble MLA Kishtwar, Ms. Shagun Parihar. The program was also graced by Principal GHSS Boys Kishtwar, Sh. Ashok Kumar, District Youth Services & Sports Officer (DYSSO) Kishtwar, Mr. Jaffer Haider Sheikh, Mechanical Engineer (AEE) Mr. Umar Ahanger, officials from the Sports Department, and other dignitaries.
To highlight the spirit of the event, demonstration matches were conducted in Table Tennis and Wrestling, showcasing the remarkable enthusiasm and talent of the participating youth.
This initiative is a significant step forward in fostering a culture of sports excellence in Kishtwar and reflects the continued support of local administration and public representatives in empowering the youth through sports.
