JUNE 4: With the inauguration of the Chenab bridge by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 6, PDP leader Iltija Mufti besides welcoming it, called for mindfulness towards Kashmir owing to its ecologically fragile nature.
PDP held its first post-election meeting today at Dara Shikoh Bijbheara, where Iltija Mufti commenced the party’s membership drive in the presence of senior workers and supporters.
She said, “It is a significant development which we should hail, but Kashmir is an ecologically fragile region.”
Iltija added, “In Anantnag near Pahalgam, the GoI wanted to establish rail track through orchards but their is imperative need for remembering the fragility of the place.”
She highlighted, “The establishment of the rail track should suit the convenience of passengers… they are deboarded at Katra for a security check, and there is a long delay of 2-3 hours there. So it should be examined.”
It is learnt that PM Modi will visit Jammu and Kashmir on June 6 for the inauguration of several projects including the Chenab bridge, the Anji bridge, and the flagging off of Vande Bharat trains.
