Jammu: Two boys drowned in river Chenab in the Gharota area.
However, one’s body has been recovered, according to reports. The incident occurred when the boys, four in number, went to the river to have a bath. Two of them were swept away by the strong current.
It is reported that four youths from Mathwar, Akhnoor went to the river Chenab to take a bath, on Friday evening.
Tragically, two of them drowned in the river. Following the incident, the families of the missing youths, along with local residents, police, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), launched a rescue operation to locate the missing individuals. Today locals of the Pargwal area noticed a body lying near the riverbed of the river Chenab, close to the village Pargwal.
The locals brought the body to the nearby area and immediately informed the police. Subsequently, the Garota Police and Pargwal police reached the spot and Garota police took possession of the body as the incident occurred in their jurisdiction. The deceased has been identified as Deepu son of Ashok Kumar, a resident of Thathi Agore.
Further search operation for other missing youth is under progress.
