Jammu, October 5: Jammu and Kashmir authorities on Monday deported 150 Bangladeshi nationals who were allegedly staying illegally in the Union Territory, officials said.
According to officials, the individuals were taken aboard a special Indian Air Force aircraft from Jammu and flown to Bagdogra in West Bengal. From there, they are expected to be handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF) for further processing.
The deportation is part of an ongoing exercise by the authorities to identify and send back Bangladeshi nationals found to be residing illegally in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources said that another batch of Bangladeshi nationals is scheduled to be deported on October 7, as the authorities continue the process.
The latest deportation comes amid increased scrutiny of the presence and documentation of foreign nationals residing in the Union Territory. Authorities have been carrying out verification and identification exercises to establish the status of individuals suspected of staying in J&K without valid documentation.
Officials said the deportation process will continue in accordance with applicable legal and administrative procedures.
