JD takes stock of Frozen Semen Project Kashmir

GANDERBAL, DECEMBER 11: Joint Director Animal Husbandry Department Kashmir Dr. Ramesh Razdan today took stock of Frozen Semen Project at Ranbirbagh.
He was informed that the Project has been producing over 7 lakh semen straws per annum from around 30 Elite Highly Pedigreed Breeding Bulls both Holstein and Jersey. The project plays a crucial role in the upgradation of the genome of the breedable and Milch cattle besides generating an income of Rupees 2.5 crore annually.
It was given out that the project is spread over 300-Kanals of land on Srinagar-Leh National Highway with a fodder producing land of around 230-Kanals.
Dr. Razdan said that Animal Husbandry Department Kashmir is committed to achieve a target of 10 Lakh Artificial Inseminations from present figure of 06 Lakhs by 2020 under the ambitions Nation-Wide A.I. Programme (Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan).
He further said that DPR of Rupees five crore is being worked out for the for renovation and modernisation of the Semen Lab.
He also informed that the project will receive more Pedigreed bulls from various NDDB registered and recognised sources so as to augment the stock of Breeding Bulls to achieve the target of doubling the income of farmers by 2022.
While interacting with the employees, he assured that all their genuine demands will be looked into and fulfilled on priority.
