J&K showcases tourism products at Kolkata

KOLKATA, DECEMBER 06: Continuing with its marketing campaign, the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department participated at a 3-day travel show organised by the INFOCOM at Kolkata, which began on December 5.
The annual flagship event, INFOCOM Calcutta, comprises a three-day Conference and hosts one of the largest congregations of professionals from travel and tourism industry, buyers-sellers, corporate leaders, academics, visionaries, and policymakers from India and beyond.
Both National and Regional Tourist Organizations, State Government Tourism Departments, City Tourist Boards, Trade Associations, Tour Operators, Travel Agents, Hotels from within and outside the country participated in the event to network with each other and also showcase their products and services.
Director Finance, Tourism, Lateef Ahmad; Director Planning Tourism Parvez Kakroo; Deputy Director Tourism Sarfaraz Mohammad; Assistant Tourist Officer Ahsan ul Haq represented J&K at the prestigious event.
During the event, the J&K Tourism showcased a beautifully designed stall to attract visitors who were given information about J&K’s tourism products. Hundreds of the visitors turned up at J&K Stall who were given publicity material by the officials and were briefed about the J&K’s various tourism products especially off-beat destinations, heritage sites and adventure tourism.
The officers also held separate meetings with leaders from the travel and tourism industry, who assured that they would promote J&K in their travel itineraries. During the day long events, media interactions were also held during which the officers had one-on-one talk both with regional and national media houses. They were apprised that J&K is safe to travel and tourists have already started visiting after the advisory was recently cancelled.
On the third day on Saturday, J&K Tourism is also hosting a special program at ITC Sonar under the theme - Exploring Tourism Opportunities in Jammu and Kashmir. At this event, the department will give a detailed presentation on J&K Tourism and also screen short movies on various destination and tourism products where in large gathering of the visitors and exhibitors is expected to be present
