Director Agriculture Jammu reviews progress under State CAPEX Plan, CSS

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 08: Director Agriculture, P S Rathore today reviewed the progress under State CAPEX plan and Centrally Sponsored Schemes, here at a meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, he stressed on strict adherence to norms and guidelines while implementing farmers’ welfare schemes and asked the concerned officers for timely utilization of funds to ensure maximum expenditure at the earliest. He also reviewed the progress of establishment of Permanent Foodgrain Procurement Mandies in Jammu and Kathua and Mushroom Corridor Project in Jammu, Samba, Kathua and Udhampur districts for which provision has been kept in CAPEX 2019-20.
It was impressed upon the officers to upload the required data of all beneficiary oriented activities under Centrally Sponsored/ State Sector Schemes on relevant official DBT-portals. The component–wise progress of various Centrally Sponsored Farmers Welfare Programmes was also reviewed in the meeting.
A documentary on Summer Apple Cultivation was also released on the occasion.
It was informed that the Summer Apple (Harmann-99) is best adapted for cultivation in sub-tropical areas of Jammu and bears fruit after thirteen months of planting. Harmann-99 Apple, when grown as intercrop with different vegetable crops, can fetch good returns to farmers besides providing nutritional benefits. Director Agriculture asked for popularization of this new intervention as one of the measures towards achieving the goal of doubling the farmer’s income by 2022.
The meeting was attended by Joint Director Agriculture (Inputs), H S Mankotia, Deputy Director Agriculture (Central), Ravinder Thaploo, Deputy Director Agriculture (Trainings), Rajinder Sharma, Deputy Director (Planning), Reshu Gupta Chief Agriculture Officers of all Districts of Jammu Division besides sectoral heads of different Schemes of Agriculture Department.
