Awareness program on Drug Abuse organized at GDC Kathua

KATHUA SEPTEMBER 19: In continuation to the drive against the menace of habit forming drugs, Drug and Food Control Organization Kathua in collaboration with NSS Kathua unit organized an awareness program against Drug Abuse today at GDC Kathua.
Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Raghav Langer, was the chief guest on the occasion while SSP, Shridhar Patil was the guest of honour.
As many as, seven students from the Degree College participated in the seminar and expressed their views on the topic of Drug Abuse.
DC, while addressing the gathering, said that the purpose of conducting such seminars was to sensitize students regarding the harmful effects of Drug Abuse, find out the causes of drug addiction among youth besides discussing and working out ways to rehabilitate the drug affected.
DC advised the students to look at the brighter side of the life and always have a positive life style then only they can resist themselves from habit forming substances. He said that parents, teachers and friends have crucial role in desisting one from getting trapped into this plague by noticing early symptoms and counseling them accordingly.
The district Police is doing their best to fight against this evil but the onus of rooting out this evil from our society lies on the shoulder of students who are the change agents of our society, maintained the DC.
SSP Patil, while addressing the students, said that high aspirations, stress, family discord and spending maximum time online (virtual world) are few reasons due to which one gets attracted towards Drug Abuse.He said that the only solution to fight this menace is making collective efforts such as informing Police with credible information. Moreover, the information provider will be rewarded and his identity would be kept secret.
On the occasion, a specially abled youth Inderjeet presented his views on the topic and was appreciated by all.
Later, the participating students were awarded by the dignitaries.
CEO, Prem Nath, Assistant Drug Controller, Rajesh Angurana, Drug Control Officers, Staff members and students were present during the program.
