DC Kupwara reviews disaster management preparedness

KUPWARA, JULY 18: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Anshul Garg today convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the progress of district disaster management authority here today.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, SDM Karnah and Lolab, AD Fire and Emergency Services, Executive Engineers of PDD, PHE, I& FC, Tehsildars, representatives of Health, MED, Education and other concerned.
The meeting discussed disaster management related issues like awareness and dissemination mechanism, readiness and availability of equipments to tackle any disastrous situation.
On the occasion, DC passed various directions and instructions to gear up men and machinery to face any eventuality. He directed police authorities Kupwara to engage public especially youth of the district and give them awareness about disaster preparedness. He also directed to SDRF to hold mock drills across the district so that people can get aware about disaster preparedness.
DC directed the concerned departments to frame an action plan, provide a detailed report of all equipment available and details of equipment to be required. He said that the concerned department in coordination with the police will make a comprehensive plan for disaster-prone areas like Tanghdar so that the district administration will get fully equipped to face any eventuality. DC also directed concerned departments to make a detailed project report (DPR) of protection bunds where required.
