DC Kargil reviews functioning of District Red Cross Committee Kargil

KARGIL MARCH 23: Deputy Commissioner Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary who is also the chairman of District Red Cross Committee Kargil reviewed its functioning at a meeting of the concerned officers here today.
Superintendent of Police Kargil Dr Vinod Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil Sonam Chosjor, Chief Education Officer Kargil, Chief Medical Officer Kargil, Coordinator District Red Cross Committee Kargil, besides other members of the District Red Cross Committee Kargil were present in the meeting.
During the course of the meeting, various issues with regard to the financial resources of the District Red Cross Committee and their utilization, mobilization of resources, issuance of identity cards to the Red Cross volunteers, training of first aid, disaster preparedness for students, youth and drivers, establishment of office for District Red Cross Committee and waiting room for volunteers during emergency situations and other related issues came for thorough discussion.
The Deputy Commissioner while underlining the significance of Red Cross as a humanitarian service underscored the need for generous contribution by the district officers and employees towards this noble cause.
Highlighting the importance of raising awareness about the humanitarian activities by Red Cross among the general masses, the DC directed the concerned officers to organize Red Cross Melas at the district headquarter as well as the sub divisions in the days to come. It was decided in the meeting that the District Superintendent Handloom Department would be the overall in charge to hold such Melas.
In order to carry out the effective Red Cross activities in the district, the DC stressed the need to evolve a mechanism of coordinated efforts by involving the Red Cross volunteers, Scouts and Guides, Police and SDRF personnel as well as other Government departments.
The DC also directed the ADC and CMO Kargil take immediate necessary steps for establishment of office for District Red Cross Committee and waiting room for volunteers during emergency situations.
The DC also stressed on working out an annual calendar of training programmes for imparting Red Cross related training. He also stressed on the need to impart training to the volunteers and Police Personnel on first aid and emergency response.
The DC also directed the concerned to ensure the time bound issuance of new identity cards for the Red Cross volunteers. It was also decided that awards would be given to the volunteers for work of outstanding nature in Red Cross related activities.
