Secy Higher Education inaugurates 2-day conference at GCET, Jammu

JAMMU, MARCH 15: Secretary Higher Education Talat Parvez Rohella today inaugurated a two-day national conference and exhibition on ‘Emerging and Innovative Trends in Engineering Technology’ jointly organized by Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), Jammu and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur here.
The two-day conference aims at enhancing the innovative trends among the emerging engineers and inculcate in them the ‘desire to innovate’.
Addressing the participants, the Secretary said that bringing innovative trends is an essential domain of the engineering field as it is vital for the development of society. He further said that the innovations have transformed the society and they also have a great economic value.
He stressed upon the students to be innovative as “this will be critical for the future growth of our state.”
The Secretary also exhorted upon the students to ‘ponder upon the future challenges’ and imbibe in them the spirit of being the builders of modern innovative societies.
Dr. Sameru Sharma, Principal GCET, Jammu, in her address opined that the scientific innovations have a crucial role in the present-day globalised world. She added that scientific and engineering innovations are vital for the overall infrastructural development of our state.
Prof. S.S Pathak(IIT Kharagpur), R.V.S Kushwaha, Chief General Manager, Power Grid Corporation of India and M.S. Babu, Managing Director, Chenab Valley Power Projects also spoke on the occasion.
Principal GCET also presented mementoes to the guests on the occasion.
Later, the Secretary along with the guests visited the exhibition area where the students and engineering professionals had displayed their innovative products.
