Srinagar, Feb 19 : Hitting out at Meghalaya Governor Tathagata Roy for supporting an appeal to boycott Kashmiris and Kashmiri goods, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday said the centre should sack him immediately.

Ms Mehbooba, who was the chief minister in previous PDP-BJP government, said if the centre fails to do so, it means he has their tacit approval and are using it as an election poly to polarise the situation.

“Deplorable statement coming from the Governor of Meghalaya. GoI must sack him immediately. If they fail to do so, it means he has their tacit approval and are using it as an election ploy to polarise the situation,” Ms Mehbooba wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.

Ms Mehbooba was reacting to the Meghalaya Governor’s tweet, which read, “An appeal from a retired colonel of the Indian Army: Don’t visit Kashmir, don’t go to Amarnath for the next 2 years. Don’t buy articles from Kashmir emporia or Kashmiri tradesman who come every winter. Boycott everything Kashmiri. I am inclined to agree.”

The controversial remark by the Meghalaya Governor comes in the backdrop of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) fidayeen attack that left 40 CRPF jawans dead on Srinagar-Jammu national highway in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.

Meanwhile, asserting that Pulwama suicide bombing was masterminded by Jaish-e-Mohammed and ISI, 15 Corps Commander Lt Gen K J S Dhillon said within less than 100 hours of the attack top JeM leadership was tracked down and gunned down.
