Road Safety Week: MVD holds medical, awareness camp at Ramban

RAMBAN, FEBRUARY 06: Motor Vehicles Department in collaboration with the Health Department today organized an awareness programme and a medical checkup camp for drivers, conductors and other volunteers at Bus Stand Ramban on the 3rd day of the ongoing Road Safety Week.
District Development Commissioner, Ramban, Showkat Aijaz Bhat was the chief guest whereas SSP Anita Sharma was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Mohammad Saleem, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Iqbal Bhat, Deputy SP, Asgar Malik, Army officers, doctors, paramedical staff and other concerned were also present on the occasion.
On the occasion, DDC said that the main thrust of holding such camps was to impart traffic rules among the younger generation so that they could become law-abiding citizens.
He said road safety awareness is a must particularly to make everyday commuting safer.
SSP Anita Sharma impressed upon the drivers especially youth to avoid drunken driving besides highlighted the ill effects of substance abuse.
A group discussion was also held to raise awareness about the traffic norms.
Later, the DDC also distributed the safety helmets among civil QRT volunteers and said that it would provide them safety during rescue operations.
