Alert cops nab thief red-handed

Rajouri : The Police personals last night managed to nab a person red-handedly , who broke open the cash safe of a religious institution and was trying to decamp with money.
The police said that a team of Rajouri police post headed by SI Danish Maqbool Dar under the supervision of SHO Rajouri Ajaz Haider and DySP Headquarters Govind Rattan was on intensive night patrolling in old town area when some suspicious activity was noticed near a religious institution.
On moving close to the site, it was noticed that a man was present there who started to run away soon after seeing the cops after noticing their movement in the area.
During investigation, it came to fore that the said man had broken open the cash box of a shrine and decamped with ₹ 17,392 from the box and was about to leave when night patrolling team intercepted him.
“The said man identified as Mohammad Sharief son of Lal Din resident of Dara Samote Surankote, aged about 60 years, was arrested from the spot and cash has also been recovered from his possession.A case FIR under section 379 RPC has been registered in police station Rajouri,” the police said.
