Voters’ awareness camp held at Budgam under SVEEP

BUDGAM, JANUARY 16: A daylong voter awareness program under Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was held today here at New Conference Hall.
Deputy Commissioner, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar presided over the function. The programme was jointly organized by Chief Education Office Budgam and District Informatics Office Budgam.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC deliberated on the importance of the awareness generation about the electoral process and voting rights of every eligible citizen. She directed the district heads to constitute Voter Awareness Forum (VAF) in each office in their jurisdiction and highlight the related activities in accordance with the ECI guidelines. The DC also instructed concerned to effectively coordinate in registration of unregistered eligible persons through the National Voters Service Portal and through BLOs.
On the occasion, she stressed on generating mass awareness about participation of people in electoral process and emphasized on district heads and other concerned officers including SDMs and Tehsildars to take concrete efforts on this front, besides emphasizing on propagating importance of participation of people in elections through the designated voter awareness forums.
In this context, the DC inaugurated the District Voter Awareness Forum at district level. The forum will act as an interface between administration and eligible voters by motivating them to actively participate in the democratic process.
Later on, District Informatics Office highlighted SVEEP activities through power point presentation on the occasion.
Among others, the programme was attended by ACR Budgam, Zaffar Shawl, SDMs, District/ Sectoral officers, Tehsildars and other concerned officers.
