Tiger Division celebrates Army Day, pays homage at War Memorial

Jammu, Jan 15: Lt Gen JS Nain, General Officer Commanding, Rising Star Corps accompanied by Maj Gen Sharad Kapur, GOC Tiger Division, on Tuesday paid tributes to martyrs at Tiger War Memorial in Jammu to commemorate 71st Indian Army Day.

The function was attended by several serving and retired officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and Jawans to pay homage to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives for the country.

The ceremony revived proud memories of the supreme sacrifice of gallant soldiers and the indomitable spirit of Indian Army’s superb leadership and synergy.

Army Day is celebrated on 15 January every year. It was on this day in the year 1949 that Lt Gen KM Cariappa took over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Sir Francis butcher who was the last British commander-in-Chief of India.

The day is celebrated in the form of parades and other military shows in the country.
