DEO Rajouri reviews preparation for National Voter Day, launch of Voter Awareness forums

RAJOURI, JANUARY 14: District Election Officer, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, convened a meeting to review the preparations regarding celebration of National Voter Day (NVD) and launch of Voter Awareness Forum here today.
The DEO had discussion on the programmes and activities to be carried out on the day at District headquarters, sub-division level, Tehsil level and at booth level in the district in order to generate awareness and to create a larger impact of greater participation on the voters for a stronger democracy at the grass root levels.
The meeting was informed that NVD celebration at the district level will be held at Government Degree College Rajouri in association with panchayat organization, Academic institutions and by involving youth volunteers like NSS, NCC. Besides, similar functions will be held at ERO, AERO and booth level.
It was informed that District Election Officer and his team will highlight various aspects of the electoral system in order to popularize the concept and importance of electoral participation and advance the voter’s education to participate, which will be followed by debates, rallies, quiz competitions, views about the value of votes and symposium.
DEO asked the concerned officers to carry out awareness programmes and other related activities at grass root levels in order to make the democratic system vibrant, inclusive and more participatory. He instructed the concerned to arrange and provide logistics required for the ceremonies and public functions at different levels, whereas AEROs were directed to set up a counter to register eligible voters during the event.
The meeting was also informed that on the occasion of National Voter’s Day on 25th of Jan 2019, EPICS will be distributed; newly eligible voters would be registered and felicitated besides administering of pledges, rallies to be taken out at different levels to spread awareness for greater participation in electoral process in order to strengthen the roots of democracy.
DEO also reviewed verification of polling stations, connectivity plan for each polling station, SVEEP activities at district and block levels, vulnerability mapping, the appointment of nodal officers etc. He also asked the police officers to submit the district security and cybersecurity plan well in advance.
Meanwhile, DEO also reviewed the arrangements being put in place for the launch of voter awareness forum in the district.
DEO said keeping the Lok Sabha/ assembly elections in view and at the initiative of Election Commission of India, district administration Rajouri will launch voter awareness forums in all government and private offices on January 16, 2019.
It was also informed in the meeting that all the heads of the Departments at the district and block level will be the Chairman the Voter Awareness Forum programmes and they would appoint a nodal officer chairing who will remain in close liaison with the district election authorities.
DEO asked for constitution of youth clubs at block levels who will act as messengers to disseminate the information about the benefits of casting votes and about the ethical voting.
DEO directed the Nodal Officer SVEEP to submit the calendar of activities under the programme.
The meeting was attended by ADEO Mohammad Rashid, ADC, Rajouri, Sher Singh, ADC Kotranka, Ved Parkash, ADC Nowshera, Sachin Dev Singh, CEO RDA, Tahir Firdos, ACR Rajouri Mohammad Ashraf, Deputy District Election Officer, Amarjyoti Raina, SDM Kalakote, Rajesh Basotra, SDM Thanamandi, Mohammad Tanvir, other district and sectoral officers.
