Attempt to loot ATM foiled in Jammu

Jammu, Nov 11: Police have foiled an attempt to loot Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) in Sainik Colony area here.

"A group of burglars late on Saturday night tried to take out cash from the ATM in Sainik Colony area but on seeing a police team, which was on patrolling, they fled from the spot,"SP Vinay Kumar, Special Operation Group (SOG) here said.

He said that the burglars left the bag they were carrying having cash they were about to take along stolen from the ATM.

"An amount saved from being stolen from ATM in Sainik Colony was Rs 17, 53, 700," said the SP.

He said that as per record available in the ATM and consultations with the UCO Bank staff, it was found that no cash was stolen from the machine.

A case under section 511of RPC was registered and investigation started.
